UltraLife Cutting Dies by CCSi
CCSi manufactures these high quality UltraLife Specimen Cutting Dies for the three procedures that estimate the comparative ability of rubber and rubber-like materials to withstand the effects of normal weathering, or exposure in an atmosphere containing controlled amounts of ozone, as described in ASTM D518Standard Test Method for Rubber Deterioration — Surface Cracking’.
These test specimens, used for the estimation of the resistance of vulcanized rubber to cracking when exposed to an atmosphere containing ozone under a static strain, have been incorporated into ASTM D1149Standard Test Method for Rubber Deterioration — Surface Ozone Cracking in a Chamber’.
The ASTM D518 cutting dies are now described ASTM D1149 as follows:
· ASTM D518 Method A is now ASTM D1149 Method B, Procedure B1 Static Strain;
· ASTM D518 Method B is now ASTM D1149 Method B, Procedure B2 Static Strain Looped Specimen Test;
· ASTM D518 Method C is now ASTM D1149 Method B, Procedure B3 Static Percent Elongation Test.
Information CCSi also manufactures the Specimen Mounting Apparatus for D1149 Procedures A1, B1, B2 and B4 and also, on request, manufactures the apparatus required for Procedures A2 and B3 and the template for B3.

CCSi UltraLife specimen cutting dies are individually serialized, hand-honed, and mirror polished. A protective coating of industrial enamel is applied to the non-cutting surfaces before undergoing a rigorous final inspection.
Each UltraLife specimen cutting die includes a detailed final report and certification to the applicable standard, traceable to NIST, and compliant with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/IEC 17025. The specimen dies are placed in a plastic, blow-molded, ‘clam shell’ style case with a foam lining to protect the die during transport and storage.
